The Biochemical Society offers a programme of grants supporting research, attendance at scientific conferences and the sponsorship of events. You can apply for the grants and bursaries listed below via this web page.

Make sure to check your spam box just in case! Please add us to your safe sender list so that you can continue to receive messages from us. Grants and Bursaries

Stay Connected Bursaries Supports members on a career break, or who require care assistance to attend a Society conference.  Members can apply to receive free registration to attend a Society conference.  

Science Communication Competition An article competition for students with a flair for science communication, with the chance to have work published.

General Travel Grants  Can be used by members to attend a scientific meeting or visit another laboratory.  

Student, Early Career and Full Member Bursaries  Supports the attendance of Members at the Society's scientific conferences.  

Summer Vacation Studentships  Offer funding for undergraduates to spend a summer working in a lab.  

Eric Reid Fund for Methodology Funding available to provide modest financial support for benchwork.  

Krebs Memorial Scholarship  Provides funding during a PhD and rewards exceptional academic distinction.  

Visiting Fellowships Available to support research capacity building in developing parts of the world. 

Scientific Outreach Grants Funding for innovative and engaging events or activities for school children, young scientists or the general public.  

Events Sponsorship Provides opportunities for members to apply for sponsorship (up to £500) of small events or lectures.  

Student Society Grants Available to Student Members to support the activities of a student society.  

Gender Equality in Science Grants For projects which support and address issues relating to gender inequality in science. Non-members may apply.
